![]() ![]() I also have a copy of Tender Frames Arrangement SL/DE/21629, which has the drawhook in a slot, the same as the BR1 tender, however, the printing of the titlebox in the bottom right corner is so bitty, the writing is illegible so I can't say what tenders it applies to. The frames arrangement for the BR1G tender (SL/DE/21539) also applies to the BR1B, BR1C, and BR1F and no others, according to the drawing. Incidentally, Doug Hewson's drawhooks are the small version.ĭon, I've got an original copy of the GA for the BR1 tender and the drawhook on that one has the couplings connected to it in a slot rather than the hole in the 9F drawhook. it would be interesting to compare it to the Brit drawing. I only have the drawhook drawing for the 9F. There was the same arrangement on the loco drawhook, but behind the front bufferbeam there were a couple of beams and then the rubber and steel spring, the length of which was quite a bit shoter than for the tender. The hind dragbox on the B1G tender was quite deep and the shank had to go through that and then have a combination of rubber sheets and steel sheets to act as a spring, and then the lock nut and a split pin to stop it unscrewing. The distance behind the loco bufferbeam to the lock nut was shorter than for the tender. The only difference on the drawhooks used on Evening Star, was the length of the shank. It would be interesting to see how they compare. What is the number of the drawing you have of the drawhook. I have 6 different reference books concerning the “Standards” and as most of the photos in them were naturally taken by enthusiasts, photos of the rear ends of tenders are rare! Frustratingly, the few photos that there are, don’t show the drawhook, or are too indistinct.Īs with many things, modern day preserved locos are not necessarily how they were in steam days, so I was hoping you may have the info! My query is therefore (just out of curiosity), what type of drawhook was fitted to the same types of tenders that 9Fs had, but were coupled to other types of engine? that the drawhook fitted to the 9F was bigger than that fitted to the other Standards and photos I have seen in several books bear this out, although as always, you can find the odd exception.ie a 9F with the “wrong” hook! You also mentioned somewhere, but I can’t remember where, that the 9F tenders had the same hook, but with a different length shank, to accommodate different arrangements behind the respective buffer beams. Take advantage of eDrawings files for rapid prototyping and presentation purposes by saving files in STL, TIFF, JPEG, or BMP formats.Hi Bob, I was wondering if you could answer a query I have concerning drawhooks? You explained in your posting/photos of your own drawhooks etc. Review output produced from MoldflowXpress - a wizard-based design validation tool included in SolidWorks software that is used for quickly and easily testing the manufacturability of Plastic injection-molded parts.
